Plaintiff, Pauline Evelyn Ruff, guardian ad litem of her two minor sons, brought two separate actions to recover damages for personal injuries sustained by the minors in a collision between an automobile, in which the plaintiff and three members of her family were riding, and a truck owned by a corporation and operated at the time by its employee. The owner, the employee, and the latters wife were all made defendants in both actions. The two causes were consolidated for trial. At the conclusion of plaintiffs case in chief, the defendants, challenging the legal sufficiency of the evidence to support a verdict against them, or any of them, moved for a nonsuit. The motion was denied. At the conclusion of all the evidence, defendants moved for a directed verdict or, in the alternative, for the dismissal of the jury and entry of judgment in defendants favor. That motion was also denied. The matter was then submitted to the jury, resulting in a verdict for the plaintiff in each cause. The defendants thereafter moved for judgment notwithstanding the verdicts and also for a new trial. The court, after extended argument and considerable study
